S. W. Rawls, Inc. began operations in 1912 and has served the residents of Franklin, Southampton County, Isle of Wight County, and Suffolk for 98 years.

Originally a Texaco distributor, the company became a jobber for Gulf Oil Corporation in the late 1920's and continued as a Gulf jobber until 1986, when Chevron Oil Corporation acquired Gulf.

In 1994, the company became a distributor for Mobil Oil Corporation, the only major oil company headquartered in Virginia.

In April 2005, the company became a distributor for Sunoco.

In October 1997, the company was purchased from the Rawls family and is now owned and operated by the company's employees through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan.

We offer a full line of petroleum products to our customers.  Our Heating and Air Conditioning Division offers installation, repair, and maintenance services for residential and commercial customers.  As a Class A contractor, the HVAC Division is staffed with technicians licensed to perform mechanical and electrical services.

S. W. Rawls, Inc. also owns and operates six convenience stores located in the cities of Franklin and Suffolk and counties of Southampton and Isle of Wight.  These retail outlets fly the Sunoco branded flag.
